Famous American cineaste passes away at 95

Gene Deitch, director of popular animation ‘Tom and Jerry’, passes away at 95.

Director of the popular animation ‘Tom and Jerry’, Gene Deitch, has died unexpectedly at the age of 95.

The director died in his apartment in Prague.

Deitch is best-known for his with working on 13 episodes of ‘Tom and Jerry’

‘Popeye the Sailor’ series was also among his popular series.

In 2004, he received the Winsor McCay Award for his enduring contribution to animation.

He won Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 1960 for ‘Munro’.

His animation career started in 1955 and he was retired in 2008.
